By Daphne Bowen

The work of social workers is to bring improvements in relationships of kinfolk members. They will also be helpful to those families facing hard circumstances like divorce, death or illnesses. They mainly guide these individuals as they find solutions. They will also help people to know their problems, set goals and make solutions for these troubles. In cases of neglect, drug abuse or neglect, the family counseling services are offered to the affected individuals. Sometimes they recommend that children be separated from the parents.

They simply begin their work by encouraging effective communication. Some of these individuals may not have spoken to each other for several months. By the time they decide to seek a counselor, they barely know the recent situations that affected their partner. They are the neutral individuals among rivals. At such a position, they help members of the kin to share fears, disappointments and concerns without confronting each other.

These individuals will often begin by encouraging the kinfolk members to effectively communicate by asking questions. These questions are specifically designed to be helpful to the family members. As they answer them they will know the cause of the problems. Sometimes the children will be abusive to parents who have tension in their marriage. The social worker helps in articulation of thoughts so that the family members discuss and also understand them.

They may give suggestions as the counseling process proceeds. These solutions may be short term. The aim is to assist families to effectively solve problems and also to prevent violent occurrence. Their main aim is to stabilize the families. Issues affecting individual kinfolk members are addressed. Those with chronic alcoholism may be referred to treatment facilities for necessary treatment.

Many of the families will decide to ask for professional help when the situation is worse. The conflict could have created a lot of tension. The social worker will have a main objective of helping them to form effective solutions. No solution can be reached among enemies. They need to be in unity to effectively cater for their children.

She also counsels children for them to understand that the problems between their problems do not involve them. If they act as if they are angry at their parents because of a divorce, the professional helps them to deal with their grief and fears. They may also be in a crash when one of their parents dies.

The professionals have the long term goal of successfully teaching families to be in unity. This is the only way they can prevent occurrence of such problems in the future. They also assist them in solving the immediate issues. Family members will be educated on kinfolk dynamics and the effects of some of their behaviors on members of the family.

She helps them to understand ways to approach coming problems. They need to know why they should respond to conflicts instead of making them worse. She will help these individuals to have a plan of effectively handling these wrangles in future. She may decide to recommend a weekly meeting of kinfolk members. They should openly discuss issues.
